2011 Home Design Awards: Remodel
See what 417-land's best designers and what they've done to spruce up some great spaces.
Home design is an art. In the simplest of forms, it can be as basic as adding a few throw pillows to a sofa, or selecting a new comforter for a bed. And anyone can do that. But when you bring in design professionals, the game changes. Floors are refinished. Walls are painted and faux finished. Furniture is reupholstered. The most creative art is selected, and the absolute perfect accent pieces are strategically placed. Spaces are transformed from basic to extraordinary, and everyday houses are turned into dream-worthy, luxurious homes.
There are an abundance of these design professionals in 417-land, and they’re creating jaw-dropping interior spaces all over our corner of the state. That’s why we created the 417 Home Design Awards. For this year’s contest, we asked area professionals to enter home projects in which they remodeled houses, designed beautiful rooms and created breathtaking outdoor spaces. We had nearly 50 entries, and we sent them all to the Missouri West/Kansas Chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) to be judged by a group of board members and professionals. These judges selected the best of the best, and you can see them on the following pages. Enjoy these jaw-dropping home remodels, innovative interior design projects and gorgeous outdoor spaces.—Savannah Waszczuk
