Outdoor Spaces 2011
Gorgeous landscaping, pools, hot tubs, outdoor kitchens and fire pits are all components of some of the best-looking outdoor spaces in 417-land. Meet the owners, and find a little inspiration to create your own outdoor wonder world.
Imagine feeling a slight breeze brush over your body as you eat dinner outside. Picture soaking up some rays while you’re reading the paper poolside, or relaxing in a hot tub under the twinkling night sky. Research shows that in our current housing market, people are moving less and putting more money into the homes they’re in. Outdoor living spaces have become much more than just a spot to grill burgers. They’ve become a place of refuge on the weekends, and even post-work hangouts on long summer nights. They’ve become places with not only gorgeous landscaping, but with fully equipped outdoor kitchens, 10-person hot tubs and infinity-edge pools. They’re extensions of the home. They’re where your kids invite the neighborhood kids over to swim, and where your friends gather around a fire pit for fine wine. More and more of these dream-worthy spaces are popping up in neighborhoods all throughout 417-land, and we searched to find our favorites. From homes just outside of Springfield to a place on Table Rock Lake, each spot combines leisure and the great outdoors in one gorgeous, picture-perfect, livable spot. Meet the homeowners, see the spaces and find a little inspiration for your own outdoor retreat.—S.W.
