Life at the Lakes
The Tittsworth family loves the Lakes at Wild Horse neighborhood for its friendliness and neighborhood events.
It doesn’t take long to get a feel for a neighborhood. Jason and Sarah Tittsworth immediately knew they were in a good spot when they moved to the Lakes at Wild Horse subdivision last February.
“It’s just really friendly,” Sarah says. “The first day we moved in, we had the welcoming committee on our front steps. You can go to any neighbor’s house, and everybody is very welcoming.”
Jason and Sarah moved to the Lakes at Wild Horse, just east of Highway 65 on Division Street, because of its location. It is close to where they work and also within walking distance of Hickory Hills Elementary School, which is great for their kids, 7-year-old Bailey and 4-year-old Carson. Also, Jason says that by being right next to Highway 65, they are only 10 minutes away from Springfield hotspots like downtown or the south side.
The Tittsworths take the kids to the neighborhood’s fall festival and Fourth of July parade, and they also have their own block parties with a few other young families in their cul-de-sac. “Every once in a while, a couple of moms come over and grab the kids and we’ll go to the park, or we’ve had cookouts,” Sarah says. “One neighbor had a Fourth of July party after the parade and had a big inflatable for the kids to jump on. We’ll also do adults-only things, and we have a babysitter who will come watch all the kids.”
The Tittsworths haven’t even lived at the Lakes at Wild Horse for a year yet, but they say this is where they want to stay at least until Bailey and Carson are finished with high school.
