White Bean Chicken Chili
Available at Bambino’s Cafe
This cozy warm-up is a savory soup with a slight kick to it—spicy enough to please your guests but not so hot that it will bring them to tears. The mix of white pepper, provel cheese, green pepper, onion and great northern beans is thinned out so it’s more of a soup than a chili. Because of the comforting ingredients, the dish is best for the chilliest days of the year. The soup is $12 for a quart, which feeds four to eight people. To balance the heft of the chili, pair it with German Carl Sittmann Riesling.
Italian Wedding Soup
Available at St. Michael’s Sports Bar and Grill
The hearty ingredients of Italian wedding soup are perfect for hosts wanting to make a full meal out of the dish. The soup is a favorite at St. Michael’s and comes from the owner’s husband’s Italian heritage. It’s made with Italian meatballs, carrots, celery, chicken broth, spinach, tomatoes and pasta. Pair the soup with salad and bread—it comes with Milano rolls. Two or three days’ notice is required when ordering. The soup is $15 for a quart with larger sizes available. Pair it with Italian Natala Verga Chianti Classico.
