Perhaps the piece that is most prominent in creating this peaceful getaway is the floating wall featured in the center of the room. “I started with the shimmery, iridescent glass mosaic tile with this wall and that’s what I designed the rest of the room around,” Wright says. The wall incorporates the colors of the ocean and sand and conceals the glass-enclosed shower behind it. At the base of this wall is a large tub fit with a waterfall faucet that even sounds like the waves of the ocean.
To appease the homeowners’ differing comfort levels, remote shades were put in place so that they can remain completely open for sweeping views of the outdoors, partially closed to see out while not worrying about anyone seeing in, or fully closed for complete privacy. Another his and hers feature is found in the vanities. One is equipped with a makeup counter and the other has its own coffee bar to fill the needs of both homeowners.
The home is made of a modern timber frame, with beams being exposed on the ceiling of the bathroom. The openness of the room adds to the fresh and airy feeling the homeowners sought when designing the space. The bathroom is also fit with luxurious amenities such as a towel warmer, heated flooring, a plush area rug and iridescent accessories to make the room feel more like an at-home spa.
