About This Event
Heritage Festival to Celebrate the Missouri Bicentennial
Mountain Grove, Missouri is celebrating the Missouri state bicentennial on its historic town square on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Christopher Flannery, a noted historian has said, “The American story, still young, is the greatest story ever written by human hands and minds.”
This outdoor festival will host speakers, demonstrations, and displays of life, work, and amusements of how we lived, endured, and prospered 200 years ago when we joined the union in August 1821 as the 24th state.
The Museum of the American Indians of the Ozark Plateau will be on site to teach us about the Ozarks in a time before Europeans settled here. Hundreds of tribes of American Indians inhabited this area. Come learn how they lived and made the beautiful Ozark Plateau their home.
Hearken back to the time when Missouri truly was becoming the gateway to the west. Come join us as we remember how the early frontiersmen and women pioneered this great country with their bare hands, wit, and wisdom.
Mark your calendars for August 14 to celebrate a part of the great American story as we honor the statehood of Missouri.
If you have an early American skill to demonstrate or items to sell and would like to register for a space, email: MGHistoryAndArtsCouncil@hotmail.com. There is no charge for booth or exhibition space.
