About This Event

October is national Pedestrian Safety Month!
The Rountree Neighborhood has partnered with Springfield’s Mr. Walker to offer an enchanting neighborhood stroll starting at sunset. The event is free and contact-less, allowing families to safely enjoy community life, while reminding walkers and drivers to watch out for one another.
Young and old are encouraged to join in on the walk at any point along the 1.8 miles loop route. The map is posted on the "discussion"  tab.
Bring a homemade or bought lantern, a glow stick, wear some bright clothing and learn about safe walking, while possibly scoring some prizes at the stations! Let your light shine!
Neighbors along the route can participate by decorating their yards with lanterns and lights. Feel free to kick back in lawn chairs, play kid-friendly music and “ooh and ahh” about the beautiful lampignon creations!
This event allows families to participate in Springfield’s movement towards becoming a more pedestrian friendly community, while providing a feeling of togetherness during a difficult time.
