Craftsman Carl Sandstrom keeps busy crafting handsome wooden spoons, spatulas and ladles out of his workshop in Seymour. Sandstrom picked up the craft from his father, a house painter and decorator who started making woodenware as a hobby. Sandstrom uses many of the same shapes that were developed by his father and kitchen-tested by his mother, offering 19 varieties of spoons and ladles. Each piece is handcrafted using durable woods, such as maple, walnut, cherry and Osage orange, and the final product is coated with mineral oil and beeswax, giving it a warm, golden shine.
