Residence: Dave & Cris Litherland
After Dave and Cris Litherland saw one of Designer Kim Wood’s previous projects, they knew she was exactly the one to fulfi ll their vision of their new basement. Using customized designer looks, the design duo of Kim Wood and Lisa Clary and their design assistant Britny Wilczewski transformed the basement from a stuck-in-the-past space to a sophisticated contemporary setting. Beginning with the fi replace, concrete tiles were incorporated to complement the handcrafted wall coverings that Wood and Clary suggested. The carpet and tile were replaced and updated, as well as the hardware and lighting. The existing cabinetry was then painted, and one wall was covered with complementing wallpaper. “[We] used a neutral color for most of the fi nishes, and then added pops of color in the art, fabrics and accessories,” Wood says.—R.B.
