Jamie Swenka and her husband, Adam, like to entertain. After using paper products at parties, they discovered an alternative in biodegradable leaf palmware and wedding cutlery. They decided to start Rustic Earthware and make the products themselves. “We like that it’s biodegradable, and we wanted to make things more lovely when we have people over,” Jamie Swenka says. Springfield-based Rustic Earthware has a website and Amazon listings. A 25-plate set, either bamboo- or palm leaf–based, ranges in price from $15 to $25.
